The Naval Historical Society.

The society was founded in 1970 on the anniversary of the arrival of the first British ship on the Australian coast. In May of that year about 40 people attended a meeting at Garden Island with the view to forming a Naval Historical Society.

The national headquarters is in Sydney and there are State Chapters in the Australian Capital Territory, Victoria and Western Australia.

Help save the clipper ship City of Adelaide from demolition. The City of Adelaide and Cutty Sark are the world's last two surviving composite clippers. The City of Adelaide, built in 1864, made 23 return voyages transporting settlers and goods to South Australia from the United Kingdom, and holds the record for the fastest wool clipper from Australia to the UK. She is the sole survivor of the North American timber trade. An Adelaide based group are working towards bringing this world historic ship back to Australia to preserve and display.
